Fantasy
Love, I saw you standing ‘neath the tree,
With pale green wings and honey-coloured hair,
Surrounded by a host of shining nymphs.
Yet you outshone them all. A vision so divine as this
One only hears in fairy tales. Yet this was real.
And then you looked at me and smiled, and I
Was filled with ecstacy. Light as the air
I moved towards your form.
You spoke, and all the nymphs had disappeared.
And then we two were left alone,
Mortal and Immortal side by side, with no-one else
To witness our devotion.
What passion passed between us by the stream,
Amid the lush green grass, beneath the willow tree.
You were my one and only love.
And here by all the gods I swear
That no-one else shall share my love for you.
For if I were untrue, then by my own right hand
I’d kill myself with this cold blade.
So if there’s any way that we can meet again,
Then let it be, and I’ll remain with you for ever.
We’ll travel o’er the Earth to your domain,
And live in happiness eternally together.
